In Memoriam Andrea Evers @ Leiden University

On 9 September, the memorial for Andrea Evers at Leiden University was a deeply moving and special gathering. Colleagues and students came together, filling the room with warmth and remembrance. Many beautiful and heartfelt words were spoken, reflecting the profound impact she had on so many lives. Throughout the talks of the speakers, on so many different levels, it was beautiful that Andrea's extraordinary dedication, her drive, and her warmth and genuine interest in everyone came through in every story. 

She was remembered not only as a brilliant and committed visionair, but also as a colleague, mentor, and friend who inspired those around her with her positive energy, compassion, and genuine interest. Andrea touched countless people with her unwavering engagement, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to resonate within the university and far beyond.

Her scientific contributions have shaped the field of health psychology in fundamental ways, particularly through her pioneering research on placebo and nocebo mechanisms and their implications for clinical practice. At the same time, her leadership and vision strengthened the broader academic community at Leiden University and in the international scientific world. Andrea’s work exemplified the integration of cutting-edge science with societal relevance, and her commitment will remain a lasting source of inspiration for future generations of researchers, practitioners, students, colleagues and friends.

The memorial ended with drinks and bites where people had the chance to connect and to share their thoughts.
