Andrea Evers, Thijs Eijsvogels and Harald Thune Jorstad were honored to receive the grant for the FIT-HEART consortium during the Hartstichting Dekkermiddag event last week. This innovative consortium, including Veronica Janssen and Linda Breeman, examines how sport and physical activity can contribute to the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
The consortium is focused on developing a scalable evidence-based approach that underscores the importance of physical activity in promoting heart and vascular health, while collaborating closely with a diverse group of partners. Additionally, they aim to explore the boundaries of exercise in supporting optimal cardiovascular function. Through this research, they aspire to foster healthier movement behaviors and provide guidance for safe sports participation for individuals with heart conditions and athletes. They look forward to the impact their findings will have on cardiovascular health.
